My flight was canceled. What should I do?

If your flight was cancelled due to COVID-19, you don't need to take any action. Your ticket will be available for one year* for use in the same cabin/class with no fare difference, even if used in a peak period.

* The ticket is valid for one year considering only from the commencement of the specified date of travel ticket.

Are the safety procedures in place appropriate for travel?

SAUDIA places the safety of its guests and crew as its highest priority, and applies world-class standards and procedures to ensure flights are safe and comfortable.

All aircrafts have been and are still undergoing full inspection, sterilization, careful disinfection and thorough deep cleaning between all flights.

Travel conditions and restrictions has been imposed by several countries due to COVID-19. This is a dynamic situation and it is the responsibility of the traveler to check relevant travel advisories from and to the countries to which they are travelling and ensure there are no entry restrictions at their travel destination.

    1. Suspending the travel permission for Saudi citizens and residents living currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the following countries: (Sudan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti and Eritrea).
    2. Suspending the arrival of all passengers from any one of the following countries airports: (Sudan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti and Eritrea) to one of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia airports.
    3. A time limit of (72) hours is given to citizens of the Kingdom and current residents holding valid Iqama to return to the Kingdom.
    4. Suspension of all flights temporarily to and from the countries mentioned in items (1) and (2), with taking in consideration the exception in item (3) above.
  • 12 March 2020 | Travel Suspension #4

    1. Suspension of the travel permission for Saudi citizens and residents living currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the following countries: (Philippines, India, Pakistan, Sirlanka and Indonesia).
    2. Suspending the arrival of all passengers from any one of the following countries airports: (Philippines, India, Pakistan, Sirlanka and Indonesia) to any one of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia airports, except for the flights intending to return the citizens of the Kingdom back or returning the citizens of the above-mentioned countries back to their countries. Cargo flights and flights intending to carry health practitioners who have Exit and Re-Entry visas and the new contracts for health practitioners that work for public or private sectors.
    3. A time limit of (72) hours is given to citizens of the Kingdom and current residents holding valid Iqama to return to the Kingdom.
    4. Suspension of all flights to and from the countries mentioned in item (1) EU countries and Switzerland temporarily with taking in consideration the exception in items (2) and (3) in the instructions.

    1. Suspending the travel permission for Saudi citizens and residents living currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the following countries: (Sultanate of Oman, Kingdom of Spain, the Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of France, Republic of Turkey).
    2. Suspending the arrival of all passengers from any one of the following countries airports: (Sultanate of Oman, Kingdom of Spain, the Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of France, Republic of Turkey) to one of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia airports, or any passengers who have been in any of the mentioned countries above in the last (14) days prior to their arrival to the kingdom, except for the flights intending to return the citizens of the Kingdom back or returning the citizens of the above-mentioned countries back to their countries.
    3. Suspension of all flights temporarily to and from the countries mentioned in items (1) and (2), with taking in consideration the exception in item (2) above.

    1. Suspending the travel permission for Saudi citizens and residents living currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the following countries: (UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Italy, Korea).

Suspending the arrival of all passengers from any one of the following countries airports (Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Italy, Korea) to any of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia airports or any passengers who have been in any of the mentioned countries above in last (14) days prior to his/her arrival to the kingdom.
    3. Suspension of all flights temporarily to and from the countries mentioned in items (1) and (2).
  • 07 March 2020 | Travel Suspension #1

    • Suspending the arrival of all passengers and for all visa types who are arriving from one of the following countries: (Republic of Italy, Republic of Korea, Japan, Republic of Azerbaijan) whether direct or transit through other countries except for passengers who have spent more than (14) days outside of those countries.
  • 07 March 2020 | Medical Examination

    1. All carriers must make sure that any passenger who is arriving from or through any of the airports of the Republic of Egypt has a complete medical examination (PCR) confirming that he/she is free of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) and it must be issued within (24) hours before boarding of that passenger to the aircraft by one of the specified and approved laboratories by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Cairo. Except for Saudi nationality passengers.
    2. Passengers arriving from or through any airports of the following countries (United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kuwait) are only allowed to enter the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through one of the following airports: (King Khalid International Airport, King Abdulaziz International Airport, King Fahad International Airport).
  • 05 March 2020 | Medina Airport Suspension

    • Suspending the arrival of all passengers who are having a tourism visa to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport at (Medina) whether from the outside of the kingdom or through one of the domestic airports
  • 01 March 2020 | Travel Exception from GCC Countries

    1. Suspending the entry to the Kingdom for the purpose of Umrah and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque temporarily.
    2. Suspending the entry of GCC countries’ citizens to the two cities of Makkah and Madinah temporarily except of GCC countries citizens who have a permit for that which can be obtained through the website of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
  • 27 February 2020 | National ID, Visas Suspension

    1. Suspending entry to the Kingdom for the purpose of Umrah and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque temporarily.
    2. Suspending Tourism Visa into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for only Passengers those coming from Peoples’ Republic of China which includes (Chinese Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao) as well as Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.), Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Philippines, Singapore, India, Lebanon, Syria, Yamen, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Somalia and Vietnam.
    3. Suspending the usage of National ID to travel to or from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that applies on the Saudi citizens and the GCC citizens as well except Saudi citizens who are out of the Kingdom and are wishing to return providing that they have used the national ID during exiting from the Kingdom, and GCC citizens who are in the Kingdom and they are wishing to return to their countries providing that they have used the national ID when they entered the Kingdom.
    4. Passengers who have been in People’s Republic of China which includes (Chinese Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao) as well as Iran are not allowed to enter Saudi Arabia until 14 days later from their exit from these two countries.
    5. Any transit and/or transfer passenger who had been in one of the two countries mentioned in item (4) of this circular are not allowed to enter Saudi Arabia until 14 days later from their exit from these two countries.

SAUDIA to waive all tickets and EMDs restrictions on all domestic flight in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and for flights departing from/to Saudi Arabia.

Waiver details for Guests who are refused for travel due to suspected infection or infected with COVID-19

In case Refusal for travel due to Suspected infection of COVID-19 with an approved letter received from the relevant authorities at the airport confirming the situation, then, In this case, the guest can choose one of the following options:

  • Refund of the ticket (according to the original payment without fees).
  • Re-validation to the same final destination (class of service and RBD must be the same), without charging fee for one-time only.
  • Re-issue to the same destination without fee for one time only, fare difference shall be collected if any.
  • Change the itinerary to any destination (based on guest request) without fees With collection of fare difference if any and for one time only.
  • Applicable on all SAUDIA domestic flights and international flights originating from Saudi Arabia.
  • Effective period: Immediately and until further notice.

Guests infected with or suspected of being infected with COVID19 who had undergone a medical examination and received a conformation text message, within 14 days period before/after the flight date they will be offered to choose one of the following alternatives:

  • Refund of the ticket (according to the original payment without fees).
  • Re-validation to the same final destination (class of service and RBD must be the same), without charging fee for onetime only.
  • Re-issue to the same destination without fee for one time only, fare difference shall be collected if any.
  • Change the itinerary to any destination (based on guest request) without fees With collection of fare difference if any and for one time only.
  • Applicable on all SAUDIA domestic flights and international flights originating from Saudi Arabia.
  • Effective period: Immediately and until further notice.

Waiver details for unaccompanied minors tickets

  • No ticket issuance for unaccompanied minors under the age of 15 years.
  • Waiver period: until further notice.
  • Refund without fees for pre-issued tickets valid for travel during suspension period.
  • Applicable on all international and domestic flights.

Waiver details for domestic flights

  • Waiver period: till 30 June 2020.
  • Cancel booking with the option to keep the passenger Ticket/EMD as credit valid to be used in the same route and class of service and same RBDs for the new date of travel and without collecting fees for one time only with collecting fare difference if any (The ticket is valid for one year considered only from the commencement of the specified date of travel ticket).
  • Changing the starting point or final destination to the nearest destination in the same area without fees for one time only with collecting fare difference.
  • Ticket or EMD fees must be apply.
  • Reissue / Go-show without fees for one time only with collecting fare difference if any, on the same class of service and same RBDs.
  • Re-associate all ancillary service EMD without fees for one time only.
  • It’s not allowed to change voluntary for (Saver) tickets.
  • No-show fees will be collected in case the booking was not canceled.
  • It is allowed to change Alfursan tickets without fees for first time, and apply the fees and condition for Alfursan tickets when make another changes.
  • It is allowed to refund without fees for all EMDs & tickets confirmed booking of travel during the airport closure period from 21 MAR 2020 till 30 MAY 2020.

Waiver details for international flights

  • Waiver period: All international flight tickets with confirmed bookings for future travel.
  • Cancel booking with the option to keep the passenger Ticket/EMD as credit valid to be used in the same route and class of service without any restrictions to the new date of travel and without collecting fees or fare difference* (The ticket is valid for one year considered only from the commencement of the specified date of travel ticket).
  • Changing the starting point or final destination to the nearest destination in the same area without fees or fare difference*.
  • Reroute to any other station without fees* with the fare difference, if any.
  • Refund ticket without fees (except for E3 security fees, non- refundable taxes, and airline fees).
  • Revalidation/Reissue/No-show/Go-show without fees* or fare difference*.
  • Refund/ Re-associate all ancillary service EMD without fees*.

* One time only.

Guest Class

It’s not allowed to Refund / Reissue / Revalidation / No show / Go-show.

Business class

- Refund / Reissue / Revalidation / Go-show are allowed, Fees apply.
