Let SAUDIA fly you to the metropolis of Mumbai.

Mumbai is big so it’s a good thing there are plenty of fun ways to get around it. How many cities have a UNESCO World Heritage Site as their railway station? The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, now also the headquarters of the Central Railways, was built in 1887 and is so picture perfect, it’s one of the most photographed buildings in India after the Taj Mahal. The Mumbai Suburban Railway moves millions of people every day and is one of the world’s busiest undergrounds. If you’re going where the rail does not, grab one of the iconic black and yellow Premier Padmini cabs to take the edge off the megatropolis’ traffic. The city is phasing them out to improve air quality so make sure if you see one, you hail one. Above ground you’ll be able to appreciate that Mumbai is the Indian city with the most skyscrapers. On foot though is the best way to appreciate Mutton Street, where Chor Bazaar displays its wares, ranging from well-loved antiques to beautiful albeit worn furniture, all a treasure trove for those who like to look. The city’s urban architecture spills over into the sea like its flea market’s goods from the shelves but not before traversing its famous beaches, Girgaum Chowpatty premier among them.

Mumbai is home to the oldest stock exchange in Asia, the Bombay Stock Exchange. Its economy has diversified into finance, IT, engineering in addition to its traditional mills and port activities. Another major business in the city is cinema; Mumbai is home to Bollywood which churns out around 300 movies a year. The Asiatic Society of Mumbai studies instead of produces Asian culture and houses one of the city’s largest libraries with over a hundred thousand books, including 15,000 of which are rare. Some art forms involve more movement: cricket is so popular in Mumbai that there’s a dire lack of grounds to play on, a shortage so severe a modified version of the game called gully cricket is played wherever it can be.
