Singapore is not regular city. One of the original Four Asian Tigers, Singapore has since grown beyond its peers in GDP. Its economy is known as one of the most competitive, dynamic, innovative, and business-friendly, depending on the index. Information and Communications Technology in Singapore have long set it apart and it is often called one of the most “tech-ready” nations. It is consistently in the top five (when not Nº1) on the Index of Economic Freedom and the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business rankings.

To get your bearings and amazing views of the city and the water, visit Marina Bay Sands’ observation deck, the SkyPark. This three-tower hotel complex also has what it totes to be the largest rooftop infinity pool. Take a trip to Orchard Road, the city’s most famous shopping district with all the brands you know and love and high fashion ones as well, for some serious retail therapy. When you’ve shopped until you’ve dropped, grab a bit to eat. Indian, Chinese, and Malay ethnic cuisines combine to create the legendary Singaporean gastronomy. Street hawker food is highly regarded by international chefs and regulated by city food inspectors so be sure to try everything. For a little green relief after your shopping, stroll through the Singapore Botanic Gardens on the edge of the district. They were established in 1860, designated a UNESCO site and the lush Orchid Garden is one major highlight. In an attempt to hold city construction in, Singapore is striving to become a truly green city. The Gardens by the Bay are the city’s 21st century response to the Botanic Gardens. The Supertrees, humungous botanical structures that tower over passersby, are their trademark. Two of them connected by the Skyway where those below can watch those above. From up high you have wonderful views of the water. If you’d like some animals with your plants, the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari is one of the best in the world. Just 12 km from the center of the city, nature-made parks speak to the island’s original beauty. The protected Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is one of the most productive in terms of diversity in the world. For some much needed AC and a bit of culture, the Asian Civilizations Museum is just what the doctor ordered. It covers the history of the city and the region in detail. If you’d like to catch a show in an amazing setting, the Esplanade performing arts center, home to the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, has seats for nearly two thousand.
