New directive for carriage of powder like substances
Guests travelling with SAUDIA to the United States are advised to adhere to the new regulations which states that travelers with powder-like substances over 350 ml (12 ounces) placed in their carry-on bags may be subject to additional screening, and if the powder cannot be cleared by security officials, they will be prohibited from being carried in the cabin of the aircraft. The directive is issued to all air carriers that fly to the United States.
SAUDIA currently flies to three points in the United States nonstop from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: New York (JFK), Washington Dulles (IAD), and Los Angeles (LAX).
SAUDIA carries 17 million passengers
We are very excited to announce that SAUDIA has carried 17 million passengers on 106,000 flights during the first half of 2018. This accounts for both domestic and international flight, with a total flight duration amounting up to 246,000 hours.
SAUDIA has witnessed an 8% increase in the number of passengers as well as a 4% increase in the number of flights since last year.
The domestic sector has managed to achieve a growing number of guests throughout the first half of the year with a growth rate of 3.7%, carrying 8.4 million visitors on more than 617,000 flights.
SAUDIA has also launched the latest technology UON, a new inflight entertainment and connectivity system. This will give passengers access to high speed inflight connectivity, roaming (GSM voice 3.5G as well as data) as well as live TV. All inflight solutions can be accessed through passenger’s personal electronic devices.
Skyteam re-booking solution
The global airline alliance Skyteam, has introduced an innovative technology ‘SkyteamReebooking Solution” which aims at reducing inconveniences lead by flight delays, cancellations, as well as diversions.
The tool allows access to the passenger’s itinerary over multiple reservation systems, so, in the event of a problem, a frontline agent can determine whether any changes will need to take place and rebook onto another member’s flights throughout one platform.
The technology is being rolled out in two phases and is available in 43 airports across 21 countries, across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
